Thermal Baths&Casinosin Bavaria

Independent travel guide · Bavaria only · as of 05.10.2026

All nine Bavarian casinos are in spa towns. For each one, this guide puts the nearest thermal bath alongside – with the same details on both sides and the walk in between. You decide where to walk tonight: into the warm water, to the gaming table, or to both in turn.

We are neither a spa nor a casino. We sell and book nothing, broker nothing and accept no stakes. This guide covers land-based casinos in person only.

In six towns, bath and casino are ≈ 5 to ≈ 19 min apart on foot. In Lindau it is ≈ 29 min, in Garmisch-Partenkirchen the pool is still closed, and in Feuchtwangen the casino stands by the A7 motorway – that is listed too.

Half 1 · Thermal bath

Thermal baths in Bavaria: how a visit works

Bavaria’s spa towns bathe in thermal water, brine and iodine-sulphur water. A thermal bath (Therme) is a public bath with warm mineral or medicinal water, usually with a sauna area. Guests staying in town often get a discount with the guest or spa card (Kurkarte).

Age
Thermal pools: children only with an adult, depending on the bath. Sauna usually from age 14 to 16 – the rule is listed for each town.
ID & card
No ID needed. At the entrance you get a chip wristband for locker and payment. Show your guest or spa card – many baths give a discount (please check).
Dress
Swimwear in the pools. Saunas in Bavaria are usually textile-free; a towel to sit on is required. Bring a bathrobe and flip-flops or hire them on site (please check).
How it works
Timed ticket (e.g. 2 or 3 hours) or day ticket. Time runs from the turnstile; extra time is charged on exit. Plan breaks between pools.
Cost
Varies by bath and time band. Listed for each town with the date of the price list, otherwise “please check the website”.
Hours
Usually until the evening; closed during maintenance weeks. Please check the website.

Half 2 · Casino

Casinos in Bavaria: how an evening works

All nine casinos in Bavaria are run by the Free State as Bayerische Spielbanken. There are table games (roulette, blackjack, poker – the “Großes Spiel”) and a slot hall. Admission is free.

Old gaming table with green baize and cards

Age
From age 21. People aged 18 to 20 may only enter with someone 21 or older and may not play.
ID & card
Original ID card or passport; checked against the nationwide OASIS exclusion register. An EU driving licence only on the first visit (please check).
Dress
Smart clothing. For table games a jacket in Bad Kissingen, Bad Wiessee, Feuchtwangen and Garmisch-Partenkirchen; in Bad Füssing a collar (shirt, polo or jacket).
How it works
Show your ID at reception, then choose freely: slot hall usually from midday, tables usually from afternoon or evening. Chips are sold at the cash desk or the table.
Cost
Free admission at all Bavarian casinos. Minimum stakes vary by table – please check on site.
Hours
Usually from midday until after midnight. Closed e.g. on Good Friday, All Saints’ Day, the Sunday of the Dead and Christmas Eve. Please check the website.
